New Meetup: Hiking Breakneck Ridge on Veterans Day

Announcing a new Meetup for Hiking & Nature Meetup!

What: Hiking Breakneck Ridge on Veterans Day

Basics:
This an upper intermediate hike.
Elevation Gain: about 2,500' over all
Distance: 8 miles
Hiking Pace: Fast pace


The Hike:
A quick hike from the base of Breakneck Ridge on Route 9D, scrambling up. We'll then take a side trail to summit of Mt Taurus (Bull Hill). After that, we'll hike down and back to trailhead or Cold Spring.


Getting a Spot:
- RSVP with Yes. Please write in your RSVP if you are driving and from where.
- Please update your RSVP if you can't make it.
- This hike is not suitable for beginners.


The Schedule and Transportation:
If you are taking the Metro North train, please take the 8:45am train from Grand Central station to Cold Spring station. The train arrives to Cold Spring at 10:05am. From here, I can shuttle you to the trailhead since I will be driving there. NOTE: the train will NOT stop at Breakneck Ridge station on Thursday.

We will return to Cold Spring in the afternoon ? aiming for the 3pm or 4pm train, which returns to Grand Central at 4:20pm or 5:20pm.

If you are driving to this meetup, we will meet you at the base of the ridge; there is a parking area just north of the tunnel on Route 9D, approximately 2 miles North of Cold Spring. Please arrive to the trailhead at 10am.


Gear:
- Standard day-hiking gear
- Adequate layers to keep you warm if windy or cold
- 2.5 liters of water
- A HEADLAMP and extra batteries (just in case)
- Lunch and snacks
- East Hudson Trails Map
