Meeting Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Tekserve (http://nyfmp.org/2012/02/05/meeting-thursday-march-1-2012-at-tekserve/)

NEW Meeting date (first Thursday of the month) and NEW Location (Tekserve).

  1. Doug Johnson of Facility Wizard Software (http://facilitywizard.com/) will present a FileMaker solution for generating sophisticated Excel spreadsheets from FileMaker data. Capabilities include multiple sections within a worksheet, merged column headers, optionally generated data columns, dynamically changing formulas, and the ability to generate separate worksheets. FileMaker data is first written to a set of staging tables, and then the staging tables are written to the Excel file based on meta-data and rules that are defined and stored in FileMaker tables.

  2. John Morina of Pueblo Computer Systems, Inc. (http://www.pueblo-systems.com/) will present unique data entry ideas for FileMaker Go. If you have done any FileMaker Go development, you have come across the need to make fields much larger to accommodate the touch screen interface…but check boxes and radio buttons only get so large. In a fast paced environment, having to press a field multiple times to get a response can really slow down data entry. John will demonstrate different ideas on how to replace these layout elements with more responsive elements. Bring your iPad to try it yourself!

  3. Oreste Schiavone of Kaostika Studios is going to present a new way to use SQL in your solutions. By combining SQL and FileMaker new Merge Variables. With this method we can break from the Graph and our dependance on calculation to display information.

  4. Bring your FileMaker questions and ask the audience. It is amazing how many problems a group of FileMaker developers can solve.
