Meet, Shuck & Drink with Rowan Jacobsen, Author of A Geography of Oysters
Details
Hello Oyster Lovers,
If you've hung out at a few of these Meetups, you've probably heard me recommend A Geography of Oysters as THE oyster bible, a comprehensive guide to everything you didn't know you needed to know about oysters. And the only thing that could be better than the book? Meeting the author himself! We'll be hosting a casual get-together with oyster connoisseur, apple expert, honeybee buff, adventurer, extreme terroirist, writer and James Beard award winner Rowan Jacobsen (http://www.rowanjacobsen.com/) on Sunday, Oct 26 at 2:30 pm at the Brooklyn Commons (388 Atlantic Ave b/w Bond & Hoyt). This is a fantastic opportunity to meet one of our most knowledgeable voices on food and environment.
For some hands-on fun, you'll get half a dozen oysters to shuck and nosh on. (If you don't know how to shuck, there will be plenty of people around to help you.) Plus, in honor of Cider Week (http://ciderweekny.com/), I am excited that Farnum Hill Ciders (http://www.povertylaneorchards.com/) is partnering with us to pour their Extra Dry cider, a great seasonal pairing for this event.
So, bring your questions and come join the conversation! There will also be books available for purchase ($15 cash) if you'd like to get one signed. Note: There will be no refunds for this event and space is limited, so please be confident you can make it before signing up.
