What had started as a series of house concerts now becomes an opportunity for young musicians and composers to present their efforts to the public.

Curated by NY-based conductor/composer Peter Breiner and based on the same concept as his house concerts, this series will be the result of the many encounters Breiner has had with local musicians, both professionally and personally.

You would be hard-pressed to find greater evidence of NYC being a melting pot and a cultural/musical Mecca of the world. So far these concerts, consisting of a random collection of musicians, have always presented an incredibly high level of musicianship and artistry. The connections made at these events have serendipitously led to further collaborations and opportunities.

Starting in January 2014, a beautiful space at Bohemian National Hall will be filled with music that is both contemporary and looking toward the future, trying to incorporate all the latest developments in technology while at the same time firmly rooted in musical traditions and connected to Czech musical culture. As an example, one of the concerts will present a Piano Trio by Bedrich Smetana and also a Cello Sonata by 22-year-old composer Kristina Smetana.

Connections like this one will be at the heart of the dramaturgy of the series while at the same time putting out a call for new pieces and musicians and try to fit them into the random flow of events called life. Concerts of the series will take place (with a few exceptions) on the last Friday of each month for as long as the serendipity continues to work.

As a part of the evening, we will also have talks and discussions—perhaps even panels—about the future of classical music, with some prominent and very interesting speakers.

We are not setting any age limits, but we want to gear the series towards young composers and musicians (young at heart could also qualify).
