This meetup is about taking pictures of the Coit Tower when the moon (full moon) is partly behind the Coit Tower.

Moonset 5:32am
Sunrise 5:46am

We meet on Treasure Island at 4:45am to have enough time to set-up the equipment and take a few pictures of the moon above the skyline before the moon "hits" the Coit Tower.

What to bring:

  • DSLR camera
  • sturdy tripod
  • sand bags or stone bags to keep the tripod/camera from moving in case it will be windy
  • wide angle and telezoom lens (focal length 24-300mm?)
  • cable or remote release
  • layered clothing. Expect it to be windy and turn foggy! It's San Francisco for heaven's sake

Note that this event is EARLY on a weekday morning . Weather may affect the visibility of the moon to the west over Coit tower.

Please check for road work before you leave home or the evening before: http://traffic.511.org/alerts.asp sometimes Caltrans is doing work at the off/on ramps of Treasure/Yerba Buena Island or closing lanes on the bridge.
