NightScape How-to Lecture with Q&As

NightScape How-to Lecture with Q&As

Details

NightScape Photography: How to capture stars and the Milky Way, including the landscape, in one exposure. In this free lecture you'll learn how to make adjustments for man-made light pollution and moonlight, and how to use both to your advantage. Star Filled Night Photography or "NightScapes" are single exposures of the starry night sky that include a recognizable landscape feature. These can be captured by anyone with a DSLR. I will discuss the basic equipment requirements, optimum exposure settings, and the natural conditions needed to capture "NightScapes", as well as how to overcome some of the challenges in this type of night photography. Light painting and how to use natural light to enhance landscape features will also be demonstrated.

Prep for our May 31 Photowalk and summer Workshops: As we approach our Salt Lake SMUG 'NightScape' Photowalk and my five workshops, I'd like to give the locals a chance to prepare themselves. The more questions I can answer now, and the more techniques I can demonstrate on the screen before we meet in the field, the less fumbling and frustration you'll have in the dark!

Limited Seating: Although this free lecture is available to anyone, seating is limited (50 people), so I will give preference to those who have registered for the photowalk and my workshops (by sending email invitations to them). I will not announce this lecture publicly until May 18th.

Lecture Format: The format for this lecture will be 50 minutes of lecture and digital slide show instruction, followed by 30 minutes of questions and answers. (If you've been to one of my free lectures, be aware that about 35 minutes of this 80-minute program will be a repeat for you.)
