Los Angeles/Torrance Presentation: Photographing Milky Way NightScapes

Details
This is a presentation by Royce Bair, on how to photograph Milky Way landscapes. It is sponsored by the South Bay Camera Club of Torrance (http://www.sbccphoto.org/), but is open to non-members for $25. Many of these unique photos are shot as one exposure with very little digital manipulation. Although starry night landscape photography is challenging, Royce's step-by-step recipe will have you capturing great Milky Way "NightScapes" the first time you go out on your own. Bair will give a digital slide presentation, loaded with a lot of technical, how-to information, such as: planning when and where to shoot the Milky Way, forecasting, finding dark skies, calculating star alignment, choosing the right lens, exposure calculation, noise reduction techniques, light painting, and exposure blending. There will also be time for questions and answers.
NOTE: South Bay Camera Club members will be admitted at no charge. All others will be charged $25 at the door. (To guarantee your position, you can register and pre-pay here (http://creativephotoacademy.com/cpa/royce-bair-into-the-night/).) Club Club Members should RSVP directly to Musicachuck@sbcglobal.net
This event is part of Royce's multi-city ebook "signing" tour (http://intothenightphoto.blogspot.com/2014/11/milky-way-nightscapes-photography.html), Jan-Mar 2015.

Royce Bair is a semi-retired magazine photographer who has been doing starry “NightScape” photography for three decades. His photography has appeared in various publications such as National Geographic, Smithsonian, Reader’s Digest, andAmerican Photo, just to name a few. In recent years, many have tried to copy his night photography style and techniques, but Royce continues to push the astro-landscape photography envelope. He teaches his advancements via free lectures and paid workshops. “Seeing many of my students go beyond what I have done, and use these skills to photograph the Milky Way with new landscape features is very satisfying,” reports Royce. His blog provides additional night photography techniques, where he also also offer tutorial, and features the work of other night photographers: Into the Night Photography (http://intothenightphoto.blogspot.com/)
