Miles Mosley and 1910 era Specialty Martini for 35 cents
Details
Andrew Meieran has designed a world-class bar that retains many of its architectural and mechanical artifacts from its history as Downtown LA's first private power plant. The Edison is a celebration of an era of invention and imagination -- the blending of science, art, and industry.
At the Edison, we experience the New Historic LA. Handcrafted cocktails and the majestic relics of a long lost era of glamour and intrigue, mark the Edison as one of the nation's most unique lounge spaces. A blend of the past, present, and future, the Edison inspires nostalgia of such legendary nightspots as the Coconut Grove and Ciro's while reminding us that we live in a City of dreamsand a time of great invention.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: 03/11/09
I spoke with the General Manager at the Edison yesterday and she has informed me that in addition to the regular crowd that comes on a 35 cents Martini Thursday's, there will be a large party that is paying for space, about $7000 plus drinks, within the Edison.
The GOOD, The BAD, and The UGLY....
The GOOD - Our Meetup event is still welcome to come to the Edison (No cover charge) for 35 cents Martini Thursday's and to listen to Miles Mosley.
The BAD - Capacity at the Edison is about 400. The large party and the "regular crowd" will probably total around 200.
The UGLY - According to the GM, the Edison will probably reach capacity by 6:15 - 6:30 pm!!! Anyone arriving after that time will have to wait outside, in a line, with NO GUARANTEE OF GETTING IN! The Edison only lets people in the line enter, as other customers come out. So if everyone who arrives early, stays to see Miles Mosley, you probably will NOT GET IN!
I have changed the start time of the event to 5pm to try and get as many of you in as possible. I have Closed the event to new RSVP's and will trim the number down as people change plans and update their RSVP to NO.
If you are planning on arriving late, later that 6:15pm, you might want to take a rain check on this event, since you probably will not get in.
For all of you who have a more flexible schedule, try to arrive as close to 5pm as possible.

Miles Mosley is a 27-year-old ‘phenom’ bass and guitar player, vocalist, composer, & arranger trained in classical and jazz. He was born and raised in Hollywood, and though the majority of his life was spent romping around the streets of Los Angeles, he spent every summer from the time he was six down South in Pell City, Alabama. According to him, it was the countless hours spent within the confines of that town that embedded in him a sound that would years later resurface, in an unexpected form.
Over the past two years he has recorded and/or toured with the following artists: Recorded the bass tracks for India Arie’s “Good Morning” (Testimony, Vol. 1); toured Europe with Fishbone and Dr. Madd Vibe; recorded and toured (bass player and Musical Director) for Grammy-Award winning artist, Ms. Lauryn Hill; performed/arranged tracks for Chris Cornell’s solo CD, ‘Carry On”; appeared on The Tonight Show w/Jay Leno performing the Bond movie “Casino Royale” theme song, ‘You Know My Name’ with Chris Cornell; performed/appeared in music videos for Sean King’s “Beautiful Girls” and ’Christina Aguilera’s Back to Basics tour; performed on the 2007 Grammy Awards telecast with the Gnarls Barkley orchestra; at the Greek Theater with Jeff Beck under the musical direction of famed Beatles producer, George Martin; at The Playboy Jazz Festivals community concert, and performs regularly as part of the house band for the ‘Late Show with Carson Daly’ on NBC.
And if that isn't enough, the Edison will be mixing up their 1910 era Martini and at the 1910 price of 35 cents - This price is good until 7pm, so get there early!!!
So come and join me on Thursday, March 19th for some 35 cent martinis and some GREAT music.
