Welcome Film and Television Writers/Developers

Sometimes it’s hard to get motivated, and it’s even harder to find a team of like-minded individuals that have the same goals. If that’s you, and you’re also a writer/story developer looking to write for TV, then this group may be a match. The North Hollywood TV Development Group is focused on collaboratively creating a TV show package for submission. This Development Team will create everything from the show concept to a subset of written episodes.

This will be a goal-oriented group that readily gives and accepts constructive criticism. All members will be assigned tasks to complete between the bi-monthly meetings.

A few important notes:
-This will be a for a live action, primetime-oriented show.
-This will not be a reality tv show.
-This entails development work; not pre-production, production, or post-production.
-Please only reply to this ad if you are a story developer or writer with the time and ability to add your creative energies. The workload in the beginning will be minimal, but expect the required time and effort to escalate as we begin writing episodes.

While future TV Show developments will be created based on group ideas, I thought it would be good to start off with a clear objective and an already accepted story; that story, the graphic novel series Y: THE LAST MAN.

New Line had the rights to Y: THE LAST MAN before Warner Brothers bought the studio. For the past two years there have been plans to make Y: THE LAST MAN into a movie. However, the film has been continually delayed, and looks to be delayed for at least two more years. Their current plan is condense the story events ending the story three-quarters of the way through the series. While the story would profit from the large budget a movie provides, the story and character development would suffer due condensation.

In an effort to help save the story, and sharpen our creative tools, this group will meet to create a television series package for a pitch to Warner Brothers.

Over the course of four months we will meet to develop the roadmap for a four-to-five year series and complete full episodes for the entire first season. Each completed episode will be reviewed and polished by the group. Meetings will be scheduled more frequently once episodes begin review. If it seems like a lot of work, it is. This group is results-driven and will be meeting regularly to successfully develop the series. At the end we will present this package to Warner Brothers in hopes of swaying them to create the series rather than the movie. Please note, that this is no guarantee that our efforts will be successful in altering their decision.

At our first meeting we will discuss the plan, share ideas, and align our goals for the show. This will be a fun, productive, and challenging experience. While there will be a major focus on the end product, we will also focus on building a strong team.
