Who are we and what do we do?
============================================================
============
Meet with other local uke players to exchange chords and tabs, teach each other techniques, play and sing for one another, songwrite, and have jam sessions! Never played or haven't played the ukulele much -- no worries, we've split the monthly meetups to accomodate pure beginners and beyond pure beginners.
This group's goals are to:
[*] Cater to all levels of music ability from beginner to virtuoso (none in our group yet at the virtuoso level, unless they've been hiding in the shadows).
[*] Learn, or try to learn how to play a variety of songs -- so more than just songs from Hawaii but also songs like those found in the UkeGotToBeKidding Song Book (http://www.box.net/shared/7v5uk0na5i) which has a few Beatles songs among many others.
So,...
Don't have an ukulele but looking to get one to come join us? The Kamaka site says, "As our friend Jake Shimabukuro tells his fans, beginners should learn to play on the highest quality ukulele possible. Beginners tend to get easily frustrated if their ukuleles do not stay in tune, or if the intonation is off. If your child later decides she is not interested in the ukulele, there is a huge secondary market for our used instruments. Used Kamaka ukuleles are in high demand, especially if they are in original or mint condition." (used with permission of Kamaka Ukulele, 16 Mar 2009, source: http://www.kamakahawaii.com/faqs.html)
Lastly, we only ask you follow a few simple rules (see http://www.meetup.com/The-Centreville-Ukulele-Meetup-Grou...

“ What's not to like about a group of like minded individuals holding their favorite instrument close to their heart and looking to join in on a song ? ”
