I attended last night, it was great!!
I noticed that some people are using hard to maintain and test anonymous functions. So I did a blog post:
    http://www.dzone.com/links/better_code_without_anonymous_functions_in_ecmasc.html
on how and why to improve it!

Glad to see people getting down to nuts and bolts of real world Node.js in production. Some interesting talks from all speakers. I think we will need to revit this topic quarterly with new speakers, and also revisit performance and scalability.

I have been developing a highly structured MVC called Nuby, with Mongo integration, MVC and other nice features. BUT like most people I lean on Express for the fundamentals. I honestly can't imagine an HTTP application with needs so unique that Express wouldn't be a massive time saver.

Added another great speaker. See y'all tonight.

@Steve R, everyone uses express. But you don't have to. Node is great for people who want to create their own framework. I think one of our speakers tonight wrote one called geddy, I am working on one called Jumbosocket, and probably a bunch more out there.

What kind of node.js framework do you guys use in production?
    Recently Linkedin using ExpressFramework.

Thanks again to NGMOCO for putting up food/drink (full sponsorship) for this event next week. As usual, please double check your calendar and exercise some very non-SF courtesy and change your RSVP if you know you won't make it. Space is limited, and the hosts would like to plan accurately for food and seating. Nothing like a meetup with no food, no chairs and no place to see the speakers. So thanks in advance for opening a spot for someone else if you can't make it.

yep Truedat we screwed up and as punishment we miss out on this. We will check here in the future and/or simply love to have you come over and co-organize and hang out when you feel like games, not that you don't have your hands full here but hey, it's fun!

For anyone interested, some of our group members are hosting the GameJS meetup same night: http://www.meetup.com/gamesjs/events/27773901/ . They have promised not to host on the same night ever again.

I've been chopping up terrain data for Mars and rendering it in Canvas; I can give a lightning talk about what kind of performance issues I ran into there if you like.

Also, NGMOCO :) has generously offered to sponsor the food and beverages for this event. Thanks to them for being the first corporate sponsor to offer space, speaker, food, and booze. And no, it won't be meetup pizza.

I'll open some more slots once I finalize the speaker list. Please raise your hand soon if you've got something to present on Node Ops, measuring performance, load testing, performance tuning, and general experiences with your own Node app(s) in production.

NGMOCO will be sponsoring food and drink at the event, so bring your appetite and meet some of the folks at NGMOCO.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
