Nomad:  "A nomad (Greek: νομάς, nomas, plural νομάδες, nomades; meaning one roaming about. "

Adventure: "An adventure is an exciting or unusual experience; it may also be a bold, usually risky undertaking, with an uncertain outcome.[1] Adventures may be activities with some potential for physical danger, such as skydiving, mountain climbing or participating in extreme sports. The term also broadly refers to any enterprise that is potentially fraught with physical, financial or psychological risk, such as a business venture, a love affair, or other major life undertakings.  "

This is a MeetUp site for San Diego area Adventure/GS/XC style motorcycle Xventurers (you road warriors can join too but the goal is to get off the hardpack with the big beasts ;-).  This emphasis of the site is off-road touring (day-weekend trips) with additional emphasis of living off the bike camping for a overnight/weekend/longer (Local/Baja/etc). We live in a beautiful area and a lot of people just don't know Where to ride or just want a riding partner to venture into the unknown.

Planning forum will be open (he/she who brings it up and gets max interest prior to the date gets it).  This a self led / initiative group,  so if you have interest in riding , post it and it will come together. You'd be surprised at the willingness of members to share experience, skill and planning. Just post it.

You will see crosspost here from other ADV/GS/DS sites for a reason; to promote riding.  SOCAL has some great riding communities and the intent is to steer people to those communities.

Event/Trip Planner is responsible for a solid plan (who, what, where, when, what to expect/bring), fuel range required and a pre-ride brief/assignments (lead/sweep).  If the ride is a large group, try to pair by ability and stagger departures so we don't jam up the roadways. Try and synch up phone numbers BEFORE you leave home and again at rally point.

Riders are responsible for knowing themselves and the inherent dangers with riding a two-wheeled machine on/off road, you also should have tools/tubes and know how to use them (even if that knowledge came from YouTube ;-)     In joining you accept the responsibility of having fun, being light hearted, helping your brother/sister, going the extra mile ...without whining (suffer in silence!) ;-)

Forum/Chat/Msg rules: Talk it up, help plan, post links, reviews, thoughts (don't confuse opinion w/fact) and share rides.  This isn't ADVrider so no trolls or haters! ;-)  just have fun and be respectful. Also do not even think of posting illegal riding (off trail/approved routes). There are too many non-riders against riders to burn bridges.

Additionally, this site is meant to be a gateway drug/entry point or bridge between all the riding and rider groups in San San Diego. Many people use Meetup when they move here and then may move on to more specific groups. If you have rides scheduled on other sites (SDAR/CAR/ADV/BMW/Thumpertalk/ETC) and want to include this group, please post it and then RSVP.   If you want to run a clinic (GPS/Mechanical/Medical/Technical Riding Skills), post that too!

Bottom Line:  You/We own this venture.  I just pay the bill.  Meetup and Ride. Share your stories and pics and promote SOCAL ADV/GS riding.

Some helpful links and sites to join are: ("SDAR" The San Diego based dualsport site)

California Adventure Rider (CA ADV Rider Alternative - without all the bickering) (Everything Dual-Sport and tie-in to dualsportmaps) - CORE - Crawford Off Road Events (GPS Training) (National Adv/dual sport site)

Beyond Starbucks (' BYS" Our OC Meetup brothers with great rides in the OC/CNF area)

(GPS Track Searching and Uploading) (National Forrest and Wilderness Area Maps) (SPOT GPS Beacon/Locator/Communicator) (For use with your SPOT with a simple link for your SPOT URL)  STREGA Built this magic!

If you would like to be a main event organizer or additional site admin, please let me know (I travel A LOT).  I just want to connect the riding community and get people out, even if I can't ride as much as I want to!

Looking fwd to meeting and riding with you.  Cheers, Michael !

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
