We had a great September meeting at our new venue, The Toronto Reference Library's Beeton Auditorium. Some of the feedback on the venue includes:
- A clean, comfortable room that was much Superior to the Fox and Fiddle
-Wonderful. 5 star.
-Better location and no noise.
Thanks to Helen for preparing questions and moderating. For Geography of Thought, it was great to have representation from people who hailed from diverse parts of the world to add their perspectives.
The poll for selecting the November book is up. Please VOTE if you think you may attend the meeting. There are over 800 members and over 50 yes RSVP's last time, so it seems like about 50 should have voted, though only 10 did. So if you don't vote, let me know why.
This month, I've selected 2 runners up from previous polls, plus some previous suggestions and a new suggestion. For "The Spirit Level Delusion: Fact Checking the Left's New Theory of Everything" (179 pages), it requires an understanding of the book it critiques: The Spirit Level, (300+ pages) which is a very popular book. Members may read The Spirit Level first, or alternately, watch the episode on Big Ideas on the topic of the book, by one of the authors:
Note: in a rare exception, this book is not available in the TPL or Chapters
I'll close the poll on Saturday.
