 ------EVENT INFO------

take time to read if this is your first time attending!

Introduction:
We're a mobile DRIVE-IN, keeping the authentic experience alive as best we can! We project a big 30 foot wide image on the side of the Old Hamilton Theater building (closed for many years now) and transmit the audio over the FM band (88.3FM) just like modern drive-ins. We operate totally via donations and even have a small concession snack bar at each performance, in addition to raffle prizes and special presentations during the intro and intermission segments!! COME JOIN US and KEEP THE DRIVE-IN ALIVE!

Drive-In Tips:
Arrive Early if you plan to park and watch from your car! There's lots of space for chairs and blankets in front, and we encourage everyone to try it if you haven't, yet. Pre-show runs 15-20 minutes (the movie does not start exactly at the time listed above, but please don't arrive late, you won't get a parking spot in the main lot). There will be a 20 minute intermission and raffle.  NOTE: THERE ARE NO REGULAR RESTROOMS AT THIS LOCATION - there's a park on Hamilton Pkwy down the road and around the corner that has open facilities through twilight and sometimes the church across the street has an event and we can use theirs (located in the courtyard) but otherwise we have to improvise!

Drive-In Etiquette:
CAR HEADLIGHTS AND PARKING LIGHTS OFF during the show. LARGER VEHICLES PLEASE PARK IN THE BACK ROW (Minivans, SUVs, Crossovers, Pickups). We can't always be 100% on top of this so, if you have a smaller car, do try to come early to get a FRONT row spot! And during the movie, please keep talking low volume so as not to disturb your neighbors. We also ask folks to refrain from smoking near other attendees. We encourage everyone to enjoy the summer evening and sit outside so we have some boom boxes for audio but we can't guarantee you will have the best listening experience by sitting out of your car unless you bring your own radio and/or portable with headphones. ALL CARS MUST DRIVE SLOWLY when in the parking area. Children are welcome, but need to be supervised at all times. Dogs are welcome but need to be leashed at all times. Access to parking lot usually closes after the movie starts, at which point we ask folks park in the adjacent lot and walk in with lawn chair/blanket so as not to disturb those watching the movie. Please do not drive in to the lot after the movie has started.

Snack Bar & Raffles:
DONATE for SNACKS at our Concession Stand equipped with popcorn, hot dogs, candy and refreshments! There's usually themed cupcakes and/or other treats plus A RAFFLE with awesome prizes!! Raffles are held during intermission and usually feature a movie-themed prize-pack!... Small bills greatly appreciated!

PLEASE DON'T LITTER -- TAKE ALL TRASH WITH YOU OR DEPOSIT IT WITH US AT THE CONCESSION STAND!

Advertising:
ADVERTISING is available during our pre-show. The drive-in prides itself on being a community-based event. Promote your local business or service with us and reach Marin customers. Please email Bill at [masked] for details. It's an inexpensive and effective way to promote your business to an enthusiastic audience of anywhere from 50 to 100+ per event!!

Donations:
DONATIONS are what makes this happen! You can donate at the show or via this helpful PAYPAL link with your major credit card: http://bit.ly/IK6k6B

    Hi Bill,
Do you know if there is an app that will pick up
Your radio signal for the movie? There are am/fm radio apps, but not sure if one picks up your signal.
Thanks!!!! Thanks for keeping to movies going!

Hi Susie, unless your phone has a built-in FM radio (not many do), your other option is to get a cheap portable radio, like this Kaito for $10 from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com...

Hi Paul- Yes the nostalgia is great. Re the sound I made the mistake of backing my full-size truck into the 2nd row so I could have blankets, etc. That meant my sound from the truck radio had to be blasted. This Sat I plan to arrive early with a picnic dinner & park front row center. You turn a radio onto a particular unused station so you can use your car radio or bring a portable transistor.

    June 23, 2014

    • Bill S.

Kate - you can have blankets in the front row, people often lay out in the space between the cars and the wall. Other than our two portable stereos in the front, the sound will need to come from your car stereo or own portable radio. The station we use is 88.3 FM.

I'm in - plus 1! I remember drive-in theaters from the '50's with the family, jammies, station wagon, pillows, blankets, cooler and fresh-popped popcorn, then during the 60's as a great date in my '57 Ford - usually in the back seat. I still recall groggy, midnight drivers pulling away from the speaker pedestal with the speaker still hanging on the driver's window - lotsa profanity and broken glass - memorable tho not pretty.
As a Mobile-Drive-In Meetup Rookie, maybe someone can tell me how the sound works?

    June 23, 2014

    • Bill S.

Paul, the sound is transmitted on 88.3 FM to your radio, and can also be heard from a few portable boombox units we have. Phone radio apps will not work for this, as we do not stream anything to the internet (which is how iPhones do it). Only actual FM radios will pick up this signal (like a car stereo or portable radio).

    Hi Bill
I've been telling different people about N.Bay Mobile & there's so much enthusiasm. I told a neighbor who was delighted & is going to tell her son, who lives in Novato, about it. Can't wait 'till Vertigo & I'll park in the front row so no SUV-blocking.

If at the time of the show there is an issue with seeing the screen, please tell Bill, Patrick or me (Laura). If you say something to one of us and it's not resolved, come to concessions and we will get it fixed.
We are not professionals and this is an informal free event that we run without a staff . We do the best we can with parking in our limited, odd-shaped parking lot.
We can do little after the fact about hindrances on enjoyment of the show (except to learn from mistakes), but are happy to make every accommodation at the time of the event.
We REALLY appreciate everyone's support and enthusiasm - even after 7 summers of shows - and patience is always appreciated as well. :)

I hope you don't block the screen with SUV's, guess I can bring my sleeping bag and lay on the roof of my auto. lol

Hi Bill, I also told a couple friends and family members, and guess what? My sister and brother-in-law (oh lord) are going to accompany me.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
