Following our regular meditation session on Sunday, we'll be starting the series Buddhism 101. This is a series of classes taken from the International Buddhist College, and approved for presentation within Palyul Study Groups by Ven. Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoche, senior abbot at Namdroling Monastery in India. Here is Khenchen's biography:
This series was designed for people who would like to learn a little more about Buddhism, and but also for people who wish to take an in depth approach to the study of Buddhism. To that affect, the course can help those wishing to continue on with formal studies, such as the Palyul Cyber Shedra offered by Ven. Khenpo Norgay Rinpoche. You can read up on the complete Shedra offering here along with a bio of Khenpo Norgay:
In addition to receiving hand outs during each session, we'll be creating an area on Google Docs where you can download the syllabus as well as the session presentations.
This upcoming Sunday we'll be doing a brief session on general sitting practices and a brief introduction to setting up a practice space in your home, and the meaning of the ritual objects found on most Vajrayana altars.
Please make sure you RSVP so we can make sure we have sufficient hand outs for everyone! After the study group, everyone is invited to join us for a light lunch.
