An evening of Hobbitry

http://www.meetup.com/North-Denver-Non-Zombies-Book-Club/events/93086132/

I would like to meet to see the movie, perhaps catch a bite to eat, and for the book clubers talk about the book and movie together. I do not have a date set yet. The movie is out on 12/14/12. I have 14th - 19th off as well as 24, 25, 31 and 1st. Also weekends. I will try to have a date that works best for all parties interested. I could possibly be persuaded to go twice...

Sorry to hear that ken - when you have a chance to go it is very good!

It's 8.50 ken - sorry I just saw your comment

I was really looking forward to it, but appears a bill was resubmitted a second time so I'm -$200 in the hole in the account I needed to put money in, so couldn't get any, and was too late anyway before I was done dealing with that. Hope you all enjoy.

I am here at the theatre with my ticket walking my dog. I will be in in a bit.

On my way - had to stop at the office for some business stuff. See you soon!!

Ken - It's the 1:25 standard - come on down!

What's the price? Need to transfer money to the right account.

What was the decided time and version? If it's 1:25, I can still make it, if 1:00, it's too late. If standard, I can afford it, if 3D, I can't.

I vote for the 1:25p standard. Price is better and also I heard that the RealD is so clear, that you can actually see the artifice... the lines around contact lenses, the seams in clothing, that some items that are made of plastic or cement and artfully painted to look like wood actually look like plastic painted like wood because everything is so distinct --- you lose some of the "movie magic" and get pushed out of the moment back to the 21st century. Not cool.

Those are excellent reasons to see the standard version! :)

I will let you know if there is any validity to this notion. I doubt it though. None of the Harry Potter movies had any of those issues and I watched everyone of them in 3D that had even one nano second of 3D effects in it.

Sorry all but Cathy and I want to see it in 3D so we will have to go on our own.

      No worries, have fun!

I am in favor of regular over 3D. Is the plan to go out to eat afterward?

    December 13, 2012

    • Katie

Indeed there is! I suggest Panera or somewhere in the area so we can find each other. Tuk tuk is pretty good too... Whatever the group decides :) I would suggest still meeting at 1 to get in line and advance to tickets if you can.

I got the showtimes and prices. I am not opposed to seeing the standard version to save money, but what would you guys like?

    Showtimes for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey at AMC Westminster Promenade 24 on Dec 15, 2012: 10:55a = IMAX 3D ($11.50), 12:55p = RealD 3D ($12.00), 1:25p = Standard (no 3D) ($8.50), 2:55 = IMAX 3D ($14.00)

Purchase tickets and find more showtimes at http://mobile.fandango.com/link.jsp?a=12181&t=5771&ftms=false

Is this going to be the 3D version?

    December 10, 2012

    • Katie

Depends on if that is what everyone wants to see. I'm good with or without 3D

We're in. When does the movie start? We'll probably need to be there early and hang out in line together.

I got a request to move it to 1 pm or as close to it that it is. I can't see the times until closer to the date. Does 1 pm ish work for people?

      December 6, 2012

I cannot see show times yet so I'll update as soon as I can which exact time is available. We could change the venue to Cinebarre to save money, but this may be one you all wouldn't mind if we spent a little more to see... Let me know and ill plan to the groups request. :)

I would prefer not to attend opening night. Large crowds and late at night is a bad mix. Mainly because I might fall asleep (wish I was kidding) and we probably wouldn't get to sit together. How about Saturday the 15th around 3. What's is the best central location for everyone? I like Cinebarre and Amc 24 but there are also theaters further south or further east or west. For the best screens there are really 2 main choices I know of - the Colorado Center at 1-25 and Colorado or the Amc 24. I'm open to most places but want to be sure not to choose a location that is too far for anyone.

The 15th around 3 sounds pretty good. I think the AMC is the closest of those you mentioned to Boulder right?

15th around 3 is good here, too. I like the AMC 24. (the 14th is actually out for me, previous plans)
