September Meetup: Discuss miniMakerFaires, Makerspaces + activities

We're getting together to brainstorm and plan towards a DFW MakerFaire in 2015. Join us for a lively discussion!

What's a MakerFaire? Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. It's science, technology, sharing and learning and includes engineering-oriented pursuits such as electronics, robotics, 3-D printing and much more.

And just who are Makers? Anyone and everyone can join the Maker Movement. It's a wonderful DIY community. For more info, take a look at these links:

And lastly, the purpose of this group and our conversation is:

Connect and nurture those within the existing maker community, as well as attracting new makers into the community. Also supporting maker spaces all across North Texas in which makers may do their work.

Not a bad turnout yesterday! We had a great discussion and lots of good ideas. All communications for all past meetings will soon be posted on the North Texas Makers website - so watch for an email about that. I'm planning the October + November meetups now - does anyone want to meet in December? Or should we skip since the holiday season is so busy and start up again in January?

Hello NTX Makers! We've had a change in venue for this Saturday's meetup.

We will now be meeting on the campus @ UTA from 2pm to 4pm. The meetup will be in the UT Arlington University Center in the Rio Grande Ballroom B.

You are welcome to come early and eat on campus at one of the College Park Restaurants; only a block from the University Center where we will have the meeting. All open parking lots on campus are free on the weekends! Or you can also find covered parking in the large Parking Garages on Spaniolo Drive.

We hope that this mid-cities location will be convenient for everyone and especially we are looking forward to having UTA students join us!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
