Frustrated by the factions within the scooter community and the lack of a organized activities north of 635, North Texas Scooter Club aims to welcome the folks who dared to buy a cheap Chinese scoot, plump housewives who feel out of place at rallys 'cause they're not dressed like pin-up girls, and middle-aged peeps who think meeting at a bar for oodles of drinks before a group ride sounds like trouble.

We're an alternative club for the scootering enthusiasts who aren't trying to be cool or bask in the 'see and be seen scene' Dallas so often fosters.  Read below to see if our club is a fit for you!

The 9/10th of North Texas Scooter Club:

1.  We embrace the rider, not the scoot.  If you can't handle someone who rides a brand of scooter you deem unworthy, this ain't the club for you.  Everyone has their loyalties to scoot brands and vintages, but keep the comments to yourself if you don't have anything nice to say!  We're exclusively inclusive like that.

2.  We're all about the love, man.  We ride politely, respect traffic laws, and seriously appreciate safe group riding.  We're a kinder, gentler, non-jackass scoot club.  All skill levels and ages 18-80+ are welcome.

3.  We're not about bars.  We all love to pound them back from time to time.  But our group rides will not congregate in an environment that fosters excessive drinking.  Two wheels+tipsiness=good old fashioned stupidity.  Control thyself.

4.  We have a 'target' area.  Group rides can end up just about anywhere in the metroplex!  But our club aims to provide a presence in the northern suburban area of Dallas.  If you live outside this zone, you're still more than welcome to join us!  But understand that we'll probably not be planning a ride in your backyard.

5.  Minis and Maxis?  Yep, both!  Currently the club is featuring rides for all engine types.  Be patient and we may plan faster, longer highway routes to keep the bigguns interested.  But North Texas Scooter Club will not leave the little guys and gals in the dust.  Most of our rides are less than 25 miles and usually under 40mph.

6.  Free is freedom.  Only our destinations and pit stops may incur fees which are typically optional.  Membership is FREE and rides are FREE.  Hoodlum, your Organizer, pays the website's fees and until this starts to feel like a part-time job, is happy to do so.

7.  Based on current membership trends, we'll mainly ride on Saturdays and Sundays.  If these days don't work for you, hopefully we'll be able to slap together the odd Tuesday jaunt.  But majority rules.

8.  You are responsible for yourself.  Participation in any group ride or North Texas Scooter Club event is solely at your own risk and North Texas Scooter Club, Meetup.com, ride leaders and fellow members are not liable for any accident or injury.  Scooterists are good folks and generally will help out in the case of a break down or flat, etc.  But on group rides PLEASE carry tow info, mechanic #s, insurance card, etc., so you can quickly rectify your situation and get safely home!

9.  Input is great and we welcome suggestions!  (Tho we cannot please all the people all of the time.)  We're happy to hear ride ideas and feature new group leaders too.  Utilize our message board because we encourage folks to hook up on mini rides and continue to grow a strong community-- even in the time between formal group rides.  Please see here for info on how YOU can participate:
