North West Tester Gathering - Liverpool

The March NWTG is going to be focussed around how testing is tackled in an agile development environment:

What is Agile testing anyway?

You may have heard about the death of testing over the past couple of months soming from some organisations. Their focus has shifted from delivery quality software to delivering software more frequently.

This is not to say they're not delivering quality software, more that if they deliver software more quickly, they can get faster feedback from the customer & make the necessary changes to the software to keep the customers happy.
The shift is moving from building the thing right (validation), to building the right thing (verification).

In this environment, how can we as testers best use our talents?

There will be the chance to chat to Testers currently plying their wares in an agile environment in several different industries. What would you like to know?

We'll also be playing the Scrum Lego game developed by Alex Krivitsky! The scrum lego game uses the power of lego bricks to demonstrate Scrum development principles & how we as Testers can provide most value in a team which doesn't have a testing phase.

Really enjoyed the Lego game, masterfully steered by Stu Taylor. Thanks to Simon Reekie for stepping up as Product Owner & proving to be a real pain in the hoop! Great conversation after the game as well - really interesting to get a feel of other peoples pain points.

A slight change to the previously advertised schedule - we'll be playing the Scrum Lego game as opposed to the Lean Lego game. It was felt that Scrum Lego game would be more suited to this session focussed on how Testers can help to provide value in a development cycle which doesn't have a testing phase.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
