Migrate an Existing Web Application to Windows Azure

Details

First we will talk about what Windows Azure Web Sites is and why you would want to use Microsoft’s cloud services.

Then we will take an existing on premise line of business (LOB) web application with a SQL Server backend and walk through the process of moving the site to Windows Azure.

Presenter's Bio:

Chris Dufour (MVP ASP .NET, MCAD, IBM Certified Database Associate - DB2 UDB V8.1) is a Toronto-based software architect with over 25 years’ experience in the Information Technology sector. Chris specializes in professional application development with Microsoft technologies including C#, VB.NET, WCF, SQL Server, SharePoint and now Windows Azure.

Chris is passionate about the developer community and has contributed projects like the ‘Code Camp Event Module’ to the open source community on CodePlex. He is the president of the East of Toronto .NET User Group and co-founder and organizer of the Toronto Code Camp. He is a well-known speaker at local User Groups and Code Camps as well as international conferences such as DevTeach and Microsoft TechDays.

It doesn’t stop there however. Chris is President of the Optimist Club of Ajax where he is also the webmaster, which has been deployed to Azure Web Sites and the database migrated to Windows Azure SQL Database. Chris is also a technology adviser for the Kids Safety Village of Durham Region where he worked with Microsoft to grant an Office 365 Enterprise subscription for nonprofits. He has set up a public facing SharePoint website as well as SharePoint Team sites for management of the organization.

Chris has been recognized as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for his involvement in the developer community.
