Go Tricks, and TBA

Please keep warm!

Welcome to 2014! We are starting the year off with some great stuff for you to use...

This meeting will be in two parts:

1) Ross Albertson is planning to demo a grab-bag of Go tricks: a simple example of threading, a chatroom demo, and some ideas for web architecture. If you have not seen what Google's Go can do, this will be a great way for you to see it in action!

2) TBA.

As usual, we will have pizza provided by our sponsor (Practice Velocity) and will have some awesome training to give away from our sponsor (Pluralsite); please keep our group's sponsors in mind when needing training, tooling, or employment, and please RSVP so we can get an idea of how much pizza we will need.

Of course, this meeting is free to attend - and free parking is ample and available. The venue has VERY easy access from I-90 via the IL-173/West Lane Road exit from the North/South/East or from IL-251 from the North/South/West. See you there!

Hi Everyone! I met some of you at the Ales and Apps and/or OpenData Challenge in 2013. On Saturday, March 8, 9a-1p, (or later if necessary) @ EIGERlab, we are inviting all technologists to come back together to finish the winning Apps from our November OpenData Challenge. At that meeting, we will take some time to discuss plans for the Code for America brigade here in Rockford and then get to work on completing the apps. At this work session, we will have necessary staff members available to work with technologists to make sure the apps work with the business and work process of the City. In general, we are thinking the Brigade/OpenData Challenge group will meet on some sort of a regular basis on the second Saturdays of the month. Hope to see you there! In the next few days the Illinois OpenData Challenge meet up will be available for RSVP for this event. Thanks!

Is it possible to contribute to that brigade remotely?

I just found out that Kevon has a 7-passenger van lined up for Chicago Code Camp.

I plan to demo Go again... Hopefully I'll be able to answer more questions this time. I'm still learning the language, but I have more working code than last time.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
