A group for people who like getting out on the hills - whether the Lake District fells, the Cheviots, Simonside, North Pennines, or weekends up to the Scottish Highlands. Walks may vary from a short trip up Simonside to a day walk up Blencathra or even a bit of Munro bagging (we also like the Northumberland coast to be honest).

Each walk will have an organizer who should be an experienced hill walker but those coming along must accept that participation involves taking responsibility for personal safety. These are not professionally led walks so it is assumed everyone is reasonably fit and able to go hill walking and has appropriate gear such as boots and waterproofs; ie it may not be the best group for you if you are 'looking to get fit' or 'looking to get into walking' - we try and focus on doing things that are somewhere between a Ramblers Group and a Climbing club (though we are also quite happy doing a short round of Simonside or a coastal stroll).

Also up for biking on cycle tracks, back lanes and easy cross-country routes, especially as the light evenings come round and allow for medium length evening cycles form town.

We have a subgroup organizing week-night climbing and bouldering wall sessions too - note these may not appear on the programme so enquire! We also do the occasional social thing like going to outdoor film nights or having pub nights.

If you'd like to offer to lead a walk or related event please do so - the programme will depend on people chipping in together!

Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Please note that we ask for a £1 donation on each walk* (I'm looking to set a limit per person per year on this) towards the Meetup website fees, which currently run to around £125 per year. Thanks!
