Gaia's Garden in Action - 3rd Meeting

  • February 8, 2014 · 10:00 AM
  • Terri's

If the meetup is oversubscribed, preference will be given to those who attended the first meeting on January 11th.

This will be the third meeting of a group reading  "Gaia's Garden: A Guide to Home-Scale Permaculture" by Toby Hemenway to help one another develop designs and steps for implementing them in our own homes. The intent is to meet a couple of times a month on Saturday mornings throughout the winter.

At this meeting we will be discussing Chapters 4 and 5.

• Chapter 4. Bringing the Soil to Life

• Chapter 5.  Catching, Conserving, and Using Water

    Hi Everyone.
Pls provide your recommendation for our first permaculture movie night and also let me know if you or anyone you know has the DVD.... if not I will hunt it down via library or internet.
    Thanks.

I own the following movies that are permaculture related: "The Economics of Happiness", "In Transition 2.0", "The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil", and "A Crude Awakening: The Oil Crash"

I have two movies from Seacoast Permaculture on loan, Truck Farm and Global Gardener with Bill Mollison. I understand Global Gardener is a good permaculture primer....

Hi everyone, we were disappointed to miss Saturday's meeting, but we've realized that traveling beyond Newburyport, for us, is just too much time/energy spent. We'll have to sit out, until meetings are back at Elizabeth's place. Susan and Giselle

We will miss you until then. If you want, keep on reading along with us and if you have any questions/comments let us know.

Thanks Elizabeth. I was telling Terri that I just read The Ruth Stout No-Work Garden Book that is referenced in GG. It is such a great read and is all about building the soil.

Thanks. Free online lectures from NC Univ ... cool. I love that you grow and juice your own wheatgrass. I saw that it grows in shade and you can even grow it inside and in winter. I'll have to start some up.

The woman that wrote it was 86 when writing it in 1972. She has a wonderful voice ,is self assured, feisty and has no problem standing up for herself when the scientists come calling to check out her garden.

Well peeps - looks like a whole new crowd is coming tomorrow! I'm thinking we'll do an overview of chapters 1-3 since none of those attending have been to a meeting with us yet. We can save the soil / water collection chapters for at Sara's in 2 weeks if everyone else is up for that? Sue - I'd really like to have you present for those especially.

Hi folks! I have been ill this week with the flu. I'm on the mend, but I think it best to spare you all my company; especially for the young ones at Terri's!
