The Third Nottingham AWS Meetup

Great News!

We have set a date for the third Nottingham AWS Meetup!

Chris Davidson, Operations Technical Lead at Reconnix, will talk about how Reconnix used AWS to create a cost-effective, hot standby solution for a client's website—going from nothing to a full website in less than 10 minutes using CloudFormation.

The talk will also include a live failover of www.reconnix.com!

We're also lucky to have a guest speaker. Let me introduce you to Steve Bowman (http://www.stevebowman.net/). Steve is an experienced software developer with over 13 years commercial software development experience. He also runs the Amazon Web Services User Group for Hull & East Yorkshire. Steve will give an overview of the AWS Lambda (http://aws.amazon.com/lambda/) service which is currently in preview. This looks like a really exciting new service with all sorts of interesting possible use cases.

There will be an introduction to what Lambda can do, how it works and what it costs, along with some examples and demos of how you actually write a Lambda Function.

This will be followed by an interactive demo with fabulous prizes to be won!
