Meeting to discuss fuiture of the group

Draft agenda for meeting to discuss the running of the group - The Navigation Inn 25 June, 7.30pm
In her e-mail to us of 26 May Julie said:
?Would anyone care to put an Agenda together before we meet??
I don?t think anyone has yet responded to this, so here goes ???.
A possible agenda could be:
1 Agree our response to Edd?s e-mail of 10 May (?suggest we spend no more than an hour on this)
where he said:
?Since the birth of my first son, I've had very little time to plan any meetups for the group and I also have to be more careful with my budget. As a result, I've decided not to renew my meetup subscription when it expires in September.
This means, meetups can continue to be scheduled my myself and others until mid September, but for them to continue thereafter, someone or some people will need to take over running the group instead of me. If anyone is interested in this and would like to know more, please get in touch and I'd be happy to discuss all the details with you.
If anyone has any other ideas about the group, please also get in touch. Other platforms (facebook, ning etc) offer a similar (free, but less extensive) facility for organising meetups and these could be an option, if there was support for such a wholesale switch.?
The main elements seem to be:
? do we want the group to continue in some kind of format ? I assume the answer is ?yes?
? If so what do we want the group to do ? we need to be clear on this so that we can evaluate alternatives. For example:
o contact each other easily arrange meetings (?could be done by e-mail - so what does Meet Up provide in addition?)
o arrange meetings (?definite advantage of Meet Up as it allows immediate updating of responses, which everyone can see, without the need for anyone to do any admin ? which would inevitably get behind if done manually)
o attract new members (?definite advantage of Meet-Up - or some other formal approach)
o do whatever it is we want it to do at low or nil cost (?disadvantage of Meet Up as cost is ?~?200 pa ? I am not sure this figure is correct? is it about right??)
o ?anything else
Any new arrangements need to be in place by end of August
2 Agree a programme or at least who will do what for the next 12 months (?suggest we spend no more than half an hour on this)
Jaqueline has already put forward a very good idea which has received a lot of support and which could form the backbone of the next year?s meetings. For example we could have an Italian ?Come dine with me? every two months with something else in the intervening months.
One item could be to make the evening?s meeting an annual event ? an annual ?Admin meeting?, to agree a programme for the next 12 months and to deal with any other current issues
3 ?anything else?? (Please add other issues)
Please feel free to add any topic you wish but if you do please:
? give a reasonable amount of information so that people can have a think about it and then we can make best use of our time on the night
? give an idea of how much time you think will be needed ? I guess we will want to finish ?official business? by 9.30 pm and so we may need to reduce time spent on the items suggested above ? that is not a problem - we just need to be aware of the total time needed/worth spending on stuff so that we get through it all in a reasonable time.
