If possible could we spend about 5 - 10 minutes agreeing some ground rules regarding speaking Italian when we have 'normal' meetings/get togethers?
The kind of thing I have in mind is say:
? a key purpose of the group is to help people improve their spoken Italian and people will be supportive of others in doing that. So, for example, people whose Italian is not strong need have no fear of other (fluent) speakers getting impatient etc with them ? presumption is that people will speak Italian ? if spoken to in Italian, people will try to reply in Italian ? if spoken to in English, people may reply in Italian ? guests, who do not speak Italian, attend on the basis that: o most conversations around them may be in Italian o they may not be able to speak to others who may have attended with the aim of speaking only in Italian for that meeting
This type of protocol would NOT apply to any ?admin? meetings such as that tonight.
Come meet up with local Italian language learners and speakers and make new amici. Our group meets regularly for meals, walks, coffees, cinema trips as well as a monthly pub meet to chat in Italian. All ages and levels welcome.
NB New members are welcome to join us for a few meetups but thereafter, we do ask for an annual contribution of £5 to pay towards the groups costs.
