Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Pub meal - Golden FleeceThe Golden Fleece, Nottingham
The next pub to try for vegan grub is the Golden Fleece, which went fully vegan last year and has since been taken over by its new food providers, the Prickly Pear people. Their new menu is now up (see in Photos below), they say it has "the BEST of our classics and an exciting selection of new fresh FULLY VEGAN goodness". Let's try it out. Incidentally all the drinks are vegan too!
I'm picking the Tuesday because it seems one of the quieter days of the week.
I'll be looking for somewhere to try in June... I have some ideas but let me know if you know any decent local pubs or restaurants with a decent vegan and vegetarian menu.
- NAE Community CafeNew Art Exchange, Nottingham
The New Art Exchange gallery in Hyson Green has a cafe that's 100% vegan, and on the first and third Thursdays of each month they do a Community Cafe from 5 till 7, where they make a two-course meal (main + dessert) from food provided to them by Fareshare. There is no formal charge but you are invited to make a donation of how much you think it's worth, or how much you can afford.
Rather than gourmet cooking it's an opportunity for people to meet, chat and get to know each other, while the gallery and cafe hope to attract more interest. It's wheelchair accessible and children are welcome. Seconds are allowed if there is any left but only from 6:30 to allow more people to have firsts. For more information see the website or the Facebook page.
Space can be at a premium so please only RSVP if you know you can come, and change it if you can't make it after all. No-shows will be marked as such.
- Saturday Brunch @ Bread & ButterfliesBread and Butterflies, Nottingham
Saturday morning brunch at Bread and Butterflies, the vegan cafe in Lady Bay. It has a very high standard, with breakfast and lunch items available all day. The menu has quite a few items, mostly over £7 but with a few smaller things for less like the cob, pancakes or teacakes. Besides the main menus there are cakes and quite a range of teas and soft drinks. There are gluten-free, nut-free and soya-free options but they can't guarantee an allergen-free environment.
It is quite small however with limited seating so I can only book for 6 at the most. Please only sign up if you can definitely make it, and of course no-shows will be noted. The 11c bus drops you a few yards away, and there is some parking on Trent Boulevard itself.
