We have an idea that's been floated at the Organizer's meeting to generally resounding approval and that would be a group day trip down to San Diego and the surrounding environs, including the Zoo, Balboa Park, the Gaslamp District and other things I can't recall off the top of my head.
Since the traffic in and out of San Diego can get a little nuts, especially on weekends, the idea would be to meet somewhere like San Juan Capistrano and take Amtrak into the city. The train drops you downtown and it's pretty convenient to take a bus anywhere (I speak from experience). Currently the one-way fare from SJC to San Diego is $17.
I'd expect that we'd have several groups fanning out over the city and then meet back at the train station. If anyone is really, really interested (as in you wouldn't mind being the "tour guide" for part of the group), come back to the Meetup message boards and post your ideas.
Hopefully, we can get some really good ideas beyond the obvious ones I mentioned.
Whether a hobbyist, a professional or someone in need of help with a new camera, you’ve found the right group. Here are some details about our great group: • We have both regular monthly meetings and scheduled excursions as well as informal get-together discussions. • Scheduled photography outings include nature centers, botanical gardens, whale watching trips, special events, and simple afternoons photographing beautiful Orange, L.A. and San Diego counties. • Each meeting includes a lesson of some sort—from photoshop tricks and shortcuts to sharing new techniques like HDR. We also share ideas and work with others to help them sharpen their skills for better picture taking. • Amateur to pro, we all are looking to enjoy photography. ------------------------------------------------- We are a group of photographers of varying ages and skill levels who focus on enjoying photography while learning and sharing ideas and techniques. No matter what your skill level, this group has something to offer you.
