OCAndroid needs ur help: within 2 weeks, we need a new developer venue. Got contacts at Google?

Dear OCAndroid members

  1. We've been growing! Now 3 years old, as the largest & oldest Android community group in Orange County, we now have 5 active local Android leaders hosting 1 to 2 Android meetings every week, supporting Orange County's Android developers & fans, both programmers and users, at all levels, with ~190 members all with photo profiles & tech bios. And we also list & support local Android-related events as on Java (OCJUG) and Linux (new Lake Forest Ubuntu Hour) plus SCALE, SoCalCodeCamp, and more!
  2. And our present venue for our developer meetings has been physically great, but apparently since the owner is apparently no longer actively selling IT training (just consulting, and it would appear he's already booked), he now doesn't want additional user group meetings, or at least not more on Android. Plus other constraints. With the bottom line that:
within 2 weeks we need a new developer venue or else we're going to have serious venue problems with our developer meetings starting with our Wed March 14th Hack Night. So--
  3. Have any contacts for Orange County Google? Or any contacts at Google?
    1. We could use them now during this venue search period.
    2. Starting as soon as tomorrow afternoon when I plus one of our fine leaders Bill, plus maybe a few of our members, plan to stop by Google in OC to say hello and see if they might be able to give us meeting space, as that would seem a great win-win for for both us & them. And we could use your support (finding us a place here, or anywhere suitable). Member Scott Drake wants to & may go, too. If you want go, too (on this or on a later exploratory visit, to Google or elsewhere), please email me ASAP.
  4. Know of a place for our Android developers to meet?
A classroom with desks? A bigger conference room? A restaurant with a bigger quite meeting room? A library with a bigger available community room with desks?
    1. We need a venue of type: like what we've been using, notably:
      1. available some day say Mon-Thu from 7pm to 9:30pm or later.
      2. in/near central OC
      3. easy access with free parking
      4. sets up to say 20 with tables big enough for everyone to have laptop and some room
      5. with wifi Internet
      6. ok to bring food else inexpensive food sold
      7. an office-like setting else without distractions (as it's own room)
      8. ideally with overhead computer projector or large computer display
    2. Especially if the venue doesn't collect money from us, we can list the as one of our sponsors, promoting it on every page of our site!
    3. If you have any venue suggestions, kindly post it in the standard spot for that: a thread on OCAndroid VENUES past+present+possible

Thanks for your help. Ask not what your OCAndroid can do for you, but what you can do for your OCAndroid. :-)
