Socially-savvy officials and agencies are on social media sharing information that allows journalists to report news faster than ever before. They also publicize events and stories that may not typically get coverage.

Who posts to an agency’s social media account? How does a decision get made what will be shared, and when? What is the agency’s goal by posting this information, and who is its target audience?

Ask several area public information officers how they use social media, and how it can improve your use of social media for reporting and gathering information.

Speakers will include:

Chris Harvey, Sacramento Fire Department (https://twitter.com/SacFirePIO)

Lieutenant Mark Donaldson, Vacaville Police Department (https://twitter.com/VacavillePolice)

Dee Dee Gunther, City of Roseville and Roseville Police (https://twitter.com/CityofRoseville)

The panel will be followed by a mixer and snacks. You'll have the opportunity to learn more about ONA Sacramento. (http://www.twitter.com/onasacramento)

On-street parking is plentiful.
