ORG Birmingham Meetup

Details

Following our successful launch event in July, ORG Birmingham is proud to announce we will be holding our next meet-up on Thursday 3 September.

Once again, Birmingham Open Media (BOM)has kindly agreed to host our meet-up. If you're not familiar with BOM's work, do please visit their website (http://www.bom.org.uk/).

We will mainly be looking at the Snoopers' Charter (https://www.openrightsgroup.org/campaigns/dont-let-the-snoopers-charter-bounce-back)- the Government's plans to give the Police and GCHQ even more powers to look at what we do and who we talk to online - and what action we can take to challenge the plans. At the session you will learn:

• What the Snoopers' Charter is and what it means for everyday people.

• How to help stop the Snoopers' Charter by writing to your local MP and other action.

• Tips for helping your friends and family understand what the Snoopers' Charter is and why it must be stopped.

As well as the Snoopers' Charter, we'll be coming together to share ideas on how we can promote digital rights as part of the forthcoming Democracy Week in Birmingham this October.
