Tarantula Trek

Details

Imagine this... it's Fall and the leaves are starting to turn. You can almost hear the sounds of trick-or-treaters getting ready to enjoy Halloween and you're taking a pleasant late afternoon hike along an easy peaceful trail. And then you see something....

WHY is the grass moving? Was that fur I just saw? What WAS that?

Don't be scared. It's only our annual tarantula mating season and the amorous critters are out looking for their mates. If you're lucky, you will get a chance to see these fascinating and furry spiders as they make their way across our trails and grasslands in search of love.

It's an easy hike, mostly flat, and really very short compared to the other hikes we do. Which means, it's a great chance to come on out to something you KNOW won't make you sore and enjoy the Fall nature while learning about these super cool, slow moving creatures. Spiders have a fascinating body structure and even more impressive ways of defending themselves. Come learn all about it! Bring the kids. No reservation necessary.
