Twilight Hike at Rancho Canada

Details

Paul's doing another one of his awesome hikes into the evening hours at Rancho Canada del Oro. Meet early, about 5:15 to head up the trail at 5:30pm with Paul. Bring along a sack lunch or dinner, something to drink, and layers of clothes because it will get dark and it will get chilly on the way down.

You'll hike up to a picnic table about 2.5 miles up the trail where you wiulls top and talk and rest and eat and wait for the sun to go down. Then, during those magical twilight moments, Paul and his fellow docents will lead you down the trail. You'll stop to check out critters we rarely get to see during the daylight hours. You'll sneak a peek at tarantulas and their young, search out a scorpion or two, and look for glow worms and many other interesting things.

And when you get back down, if we're lucky with clear skies, you will get to hang out with the astronomers and check out all kinds of interesting things through their telescopes. Bring a flashlight and if you need it, we will have red plastic you can put over the top of it to preserve your night vision.

This is a reservation only hike, but as a special treat, I invite extra folks from this meetup to enjoy the experience. All you need do is let me know you want to go by signing up here.
