Come relax with friends after a day of productive work.

New members and first-timers are welcome! If you are new to NTOS and are looking for a chance to introduce yourself or find out more about us, this event is perfect for you! We would be very glad to meet you!

This time, let's open the table to discussions or questions about Ayn Rand's philosophy!

Is speeding on the highway moral or immoral? What are the issues? Or should the government get out of traffic regulation, period? Should there be "public" roads? What does "public" mean?

What about taxes for things like the roads? Justifiable or not?

What about social security? Is it moral to take it if you are disabled? If you've been taxed to pay into the system, are you entitled to it? If so, from whom?

Can any tax be a "fair" tax? Or "better" than another kind of tax? Are sales taxes better than income taxes? Are cigarette taxes better than gasoline taxes? What does "better" mean? By what standard would one kind of tax be better or worse than another tax?

Should a corporation make charitable donations to improve its public image? For example, what about a large retailer advertising it gives 1% back to the community? Is this good advertising or appeasement to altruism?

What is the purpose of a "white lie"? Is it moral to protect someone's feelings from what you really think?

What about the United States arming the insurgents in Syria? Is this a good strategic plan? Is the enemy of your enemy your friend? Who is the enemy? Who is the friend? By what standard?

Is having children productive or merely for a parent's enjoyment? What is the definition of "productive"?

What about gay marriage? Should everyone get one? What about polygamy? What is the definition of "marriage"? Should the government be involved in marriage? Should it be involved in divorce?

Does something trouble you about Ayn Rand's philosophical ideas? Do you disagree with Objectivism on a particular point?

And more! Everyone is welcome to bring a topic or question!

We don't promise we will be able to resolve all issues or questions to everyone's satisfaction, but let's get started!
