Individual Rights and Free Markets
Dr. Andrew Bernstein Speaking to the North Texas Objectivist Society
In the current day, America is plagued by serious moral/political dilemmas, several of which threaten the country’s very existence as a free society. Environmentalism and claims of pernicious man-made global warming constitute one such challenge. Terrorism spawned by Islamic Totalitarianism poses a major danger to American lives and freedom. Healthcare and the current trend toward socialized medicine is a serious problem. Education in America has been an unresolved problem for decades, if not for 150 years since the imposition of government schooling. Nor are these the only significant challenges facing the country today. There are others, such as: abortion, gun control vs. the right to bear to arms, the War on Drugs, immigration, and gay marriage.
This talk, based on Andrew Bernstein’s current manuscript of the same title, analyzes every one of these issues from within the perspective of Ayn Rand’s philosophy of Objectivism, showing that, without exception, rational solutions—those both moral and practical—lie in full protection of individual rights and establishment of free markets.
The talk itself will last roughly 60-90 minutes and be followed by an extensive question and answer session.
