Prospective members and visitors are welcome to attend any meeting of The Ohio Referral Network (TORN). Please check the catagories taken list below to see there there are any professional conflicts for this Chapter.
I. Membership in The Ohio Referral Network (TORN)
Prior to acceptance, a Prospective Members must complete an application (available at all meetings or online at https://www.meetup.com/Ohio-Referral-Network/files/
The completed application (including 6 digit SIC code), along with a payment of $60 for one year’s membership dues, should be submitted to the Chapter Leader.
The Chapter Leader will review the Prospective Member on the basis of professional category availability and appropriate compatibility with existing Chapter members. The Chapter Leader will then pass along the application and payment with a recommendation for membership to the Executive Leadership of TORN for formal approval and registration, which includes data entry on TORN information sites, sponsorship announcement, inclusion in the member directory and contact information listed at meetup.com. If membership is not extended, a full refund will be provided.
Upon acceptance into membership, each new Member is asked to provide a digital (jpg) file of a representative logo or photo for use on TORN internet sites.
II Parameters of Membership
- One individual may belong to only one TORN Chapter.
- Each TORN Member represents only one service or product. (You cannot promote yourself at TORN meetings or events as offering two distinct business services, such as Catering and Real Estate Sales.)
- Each Chapter allows only one Member representing a specific Job Category (as defined by one 6 digit SIC Codes – see http://www.sec.gov/info/edgar/siccodes.htm).
In other words, no Chapter will grant membership to a second Automotive Repair Services
professional to join that Chapter. This ensures that each Member has exclusive category
“ownership” during his/her membership. Should someone in a similar job category (say
for this example, an Automobile Sales Dealership), the Chapter Leader must determine
that there is no conflict and clarify to the Auto Sales Dealer that he/she cannot discuss or
promote automobile repair service at Chapter meetings. - Each TORN Member is expected to support the goals and values of the organization (“Goals and Values).
- Each TORN Chapter meets once a month, every month of the year. Members are required to attend no less than eight (8) meetings a year and miss no more than two successive meetings. (A Member may send a representative in his/her place to meet this requirement.
Any Member who is absent from meetings three (3) months in a row or fails to attend eight (8) meetings in a 12-month period loses his/her membership and forfeits the dues paid for that membership period. Upon loss of membership, that ex-Member’s job category immediately becomes available to another individual.
III. Member Benefits
- Category exclusivity within the Chapter.
- Each Member’s Name, Logo (or Photo), Contact Information, and Description of the Product or Service Provided is displayed at the Meetup.com TORN site.
- Members will be given opportunities to explain their product/service offering in special “Member Showcase” presentations at Chapter meetings.
- Members who have general expertise to share in areas that will enhance meeting attendees’ business knowledge, networking skills, or related professional development will be given opportunities to speak as part of TORN’s ongoing Network U presentations.
- Members may receive discounts, early admissions, and other special considerations for special TORN events or for affiliated businesses, offerings, or activities.
- Once a Member is accepted to a specific TORN Chapter, that individual has the right to renew that membership in subsequent years.
Only when a Member fails to renew his/her membership does that particular job category become available to another seeking membership. - If the job category you represent at your TORN Chapter is unfilled at another TORN Chapter,
you may attend those meetings as a visitor. (Of course, once that category is filled, the Chapter will safeguard that new Member’s category exclusivity).
