(Although this isn't an Old West event, per se, it's close enough historically that I feel it's well worth posting here.)

Cannon Firing and Demonstration. School of Soldier Drills. Hear the rattle of muskets as reenactors fire their weapons. Learn about the "Gettysburg of the West". Visit a Civil War company street-talk with re-enactors. Discover the role of women during the War.

Presentations will be at 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm. After presentations, you will be invited to visit the camp. The 1:00 pm presentation will include a battle reenactment!

Camp will be just southwest of Stroh Road and Parker Road. (about 1/4 mile south of Walgreens - watch for signs, or use this map: http://mapq.st/n4qP5c... (http://mapq.st/n4qP5c) )

UPDATE!!! The organizer just sent me the following schedule of events for the day:

  • Agenda will be:

o 10am Demo: 1.25 hrs

o 1pm Reenactment: 45 minutes

o 3pm Demo: 1.25 hrs

  • Demo Order will be (10-minute talks):

o Artillery

o Cavalry

o Clara Barton

o Music

o CW Overview / Glorieta Pass

o Women’s Participation

o Infantry

(You will have the opportunity to stroll through the military and civilian camps between the demos and inspect the hardware and talk to the reenactors.)
