At long last, DOT and I have sorted out the details of On Draft's road sponsorship. It's a 1-mile section of Fayetteville Road, with Massey Chapel Road at the north end and South Bend Drive at the south end.
I plan to be in the church parking lot at 10 a.m. with a stack of orange bags that I've picked up from DOT's Durham County office. I'd love to have at least three people there to start with me at 10 a.m. sharp, but you're also welcome to come later. It should be pretty easy to find us, regardless of when you come, but please call me at [masked] if you have any trouble.
Bring sunscreen and work gloves. DOT gave me a few sets of gloves, but those may not be enough.
We'll also have a stack of blue bags for recycling. We'll have to take those to a recycling center ourselves. We get to keep the cash from recycling. We can discuss whether to use it for 1) a round of drinks afterward, 2) the communal fund for the MS ride at New Bern or 3) a team-sized container of Chamois Butt'r.
Having never cleaned up a 1-mile road section, I really don't know how long it'd take to do it thoroughly, but I'll probably be ready to knock off by 1 p.m. or so. If at least two of us last the full three hours, we should go grab a beer and/or lunch at Southpoint Mall.
Dawn, Bill and I are planning to meet for a ride at about 7:50 and roll out of the parking lot sharply at 8. It'll probably be a 25-to-30-mile ride, maybe down toward Jordan Lake, maybe somethin' like this: http://goo.gl/maps/YIyxM.
