Open Data Book Club

Details
Open Data Book Club is a monthly series of events aimed at exploring open datasets that relate to the National Capital Region.
This is Open Data Ottawa's first formal Meetup event, and the first gathering of Open Data Book Club!
This is how (we hope) the event typically unfolds:
- Presentations related to cool stuff that people have done with last month's dataset
- Presentations from members to suggest datasets we should consider this month, to be presented at the following meetup
- Voting on the datasets which were presented to determine what we'll hack on in the upcoming month
- Group formation based on similar interests
- Everyone hacks for a few hours on this month's dataset
- Final comments, if any members have anything to discuss or present
- Groups hack on the chosen dataset between now and the next meet up, hopefully coming up with something awesome to present for the next event
Because this is the first event, we're going to choose the super interesting 311 service request dataset, which is available here: http://data.ottawa.ca/en/dataset/2014-311-monthly-service-request-submissions.
There's lots of super interesting data in here, and we're excited to see what people can come up with. This is an arbitrary choice, for future events we will make sure to see what data everyone is interested in working with (based on the datasets presented and voted on).
For the first event, you should bring:
- A cool presentation, if you feel like doing something interesting with the 311 dataset
- Some interesting datasets that you think people would be interested in working on
- Your laptop, so that you can hack on data for a few hours on day one
