International Open Data Day 2016

Details

The open data community in Ottawa has grown significantly over the past several years. To continue to support the growing community, Open Data Ottawa is again organizing an event to celebrate International Open Data Day (http://opendataday.org/).

This event is slightly different than those we've organized in the past. There will be a series of short presentation from different members of the open data community, followed by casual networking and discussions about open data.

Are you new to open data? This is the perfect opportunity to learn about what open data is, get a better understanding of what types of open data are available, and learn about different ways it's being used by members of our community.

We hope you'll join us to celebrate #opendataday!

Schedule of events:

1:30 - Welcome from Open Data Ottawa team
1:45 - Natural Resources Canada [Philippe Mineau & Julie Gaudreau Cormier]
2:00 - City of Ottawa [Rob Giggey]
2:15 - Ottawa Public Library [Chris Simmons & Stirling Prentice]
2:30 - Minecraft open data [Eric Storie]
2:45 - Treasury Board Secretariat [Allison O'Beirne]

Event hours:

The festivities kick off at exactly 1:30pm on Saturday afternoon. We'll be wrapping up around 4:30, but hope that you keep the open data conversations going at a nearby restaurant.

A special thanks to Shopify for providing the venue for this event and to Red Hat for their sponsorship contribution.
