The day I can most clearly recall having felt the powerful longing to visit the cosmos was in the IMAX theater of the Buckminster Fuller inspired geodesic dome of Expo '86, Vancouver, awestruck and wide eyed at the viewing of the Lockheed Corp produced "Destiny in Space", 1993. You can watch it here: http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/destiny-in-space/ Since then, I can happily say, the dream of reaching Mars has only become more real with every new day, as non-goverment organizations push to the front of space exploration, in the wake of 2004's successful Ansari Space X Prize (http://space.xprize.org/ansari-x-prize).
A vision for humanity above and beyond mere survival on Earth.
I'd like to return to my birth planet by 2040, and my 60th birthday. However, I ultimately aim to retire on Mars with a finger outstretched to the planets and stars beyond which my children will someday claim for their own experience.
I'm going to Mars.
For a first time meetup, I was thrilled to meet 7 other serious commercial space enthusiasts & comm-space entrepreneurs.
