Code Across - Open Data Challenge

On the weekend of February 21-23, Code for America, the Open Knowledge Foundation and the Sunlight Foundation will host 40+ events around the globe known as CodeAcross.

Open Salt Lake is part of the Code for America Brigade network and will be hosting this event as part of Code Across. Join us as we take part in three challenges put forth by Code for America surrounding Open Data.

The Open Data Inventory Challenge - Take stock of where your city stands on publishing some fundamental datasets.

Open Data Policy Challenge - Work with your local officials to create an open data policy, or draft an implementation plan or accountability structure for a recently passed policy.

Open Civic Data Scraper Challenge - Create scrapers to pull down important civic information to feed the Open Civic Data API.

The event will be held in the Bassis Center at Westminster College the afternoon of Friday February 21, 2014.

Hi, Heading to SLC. Bringing copies of the parking pass to share as necessary and event signs to post. See you soon!

Nole or Hadley to do you have a link to the parking pass? Be good for everyone to have. I can't find that email.

I'm not sure I understand, and maybe it's just because I'm new in the area. This even is scheduled from 1 - 4 tomorrow, but CodeAcross goes all weekend. Is there a weekend meetup where people will be working on this? In Milwaukee maybe we were lucky to have a coworking and wiki space open 24 hours for events like this.

We are doing a live meet-up from 1-4 at Westminster. A more open co-working space would be cool and SLC is getting close with the Hub coming on line. Most of the brigades are doing similar meet-ups....

I will try to be there for part of it at least - I can't get away before three for sure.
