Open edX was designed to be an extensible platform for experimenting with online learning techniques. A key component of that extensibility is XBlock, the component API for courseware. We'll have a quick overview of the technology behind XBlock, see a few notable examples of XBlocks, and also hear about JSInput, another extension technology available in Open edX.

John Eskew, architect on the platform team at edX, will tell us about XBlocks and how they work.

Louis Gudema, from service provider Appsembler, will demonstrate some XBlocks.

Colin Fredericks, project lead at Harvard, will explain how JSInput works.

Pizza will be provided! :)
