OpenStack Meetup - Neutron networking with Cumulus and Project Astara

Details

Hello everyone - Our Feb OpenStack Meetup brings us a double header session on Neutron and Project Astara! Still a hot topic in the community, our first topic is a beginner to intermediate session discussing OpenStack Neutron and the Modular Layer 2 plugin framework and how it interacts with physical underlay. Specifically Open Networking devices. So if you are still figuring out Neutron - come on out and meetup Feb 18. Our session is being co-sponsored by Cumulus.

Speaker Bio: Kevin Witherstine is a Systems Engineer at Cumulus Networks with over 20 years of industry experience with a recent focus on SDN and virtual networking. Previous to Cumulus, Kevin has had stints with industry giants such as VMware, Cisco, and Juniper.

Our 2nd topic will provide an overview and current state of Project Astara (formally Akanda). The Astara project aims to provide an integrated network service orchestration for connecting and security multi-tenant OpenStack environments. Astara provides deployer-configurable, multi-provider orchestration for Layer-3 through 7 network services (e.g. load balancing, routing). Our speaker is Eric Lopez, Sr. Solution Architect, helps customers implement and integrate networking and OpenStack. Prior to Akanda/Astara, Eric joined VMware via Nicira acquisition.
