DigitalFilm Tree/OpenStack 5th Birthday Gala. The July OpenStack L.A. Meetup

Details

The July OpenStack L.A. meetup/OpenStack 5th birthday celebration is on! We are extremely fortunate to have Guillaume Aubuchon, CTO of DigitalFilm Tree as our featured presenter this month. Guillaume has been onstage as a part of the keynote presentations at the last two OpenStack Summits (Paris and Vancouver) and has graciously accepted my invitation to present to our group. He is an outspoken advocate of OpenStack and is working diligently to have OpenStack gain greater adoption within the entertainment industry.

We'll also be celebrating OpenStack's 5th birthday! There will be great food and drinks (possibly even some bubbly!), and more! We've been asked by the OpenStack Foundation to take lots of pics at the event so that they can be included in the big slide show that the Foundation will be showing during their big celebration at OSCON the following week. So, be sure to bring your best smiles!

The July meetup is being co-sponsored by Cisco and the OpenStack Foundation. We hope that you'll be able to join us on the 16th!

Presentation Abstract:

Guillaume’s presentation will focus on identity federation as it relates to DigitalFilm Tree’s television workflow. Learn how DigitalFilm Tree, HP, and Blue Box built their proof of concept using the new federated identity capabilities available in OpenStack Kilo. With federated identity, we've taken a huge leap forward for OpenStack interoperability and Guillaume will share the benefits and challenges with the group using a real-world use case.

Speaker Bio:

Guillaume Aubuchon/Chief Technical Officer at DigitalFilm Tree

Guillaume has spent the past decade melding the latest in technological innovation with the century old tradition of filmmaking. From television such as Nip/Tuck, The Sarah Silverman Program, and NCIS: Los Angeles to theatrical projects like Spike Jonzes’ “Her,” he has been a leader in the emergence of file-based workflows as they permeate the creative process.

Guillaume has been involved with many firsts including the development of camera systems, editing software, and storage solutions. Now as CTO of DigitalFilm Tree, he finds himself focused on bringing cloud workflow into mainstream production. Working on shows such as Mistresses and Perception, he has sought to bring practical use of cloud technologies into active television and film productions. After speaking to thousands at OpenStack Summits and encouraging greater interest in media from that community, he hopes to boost adoption of OpenStack in entertainment.
