DreamHost will roll out the red carpet for SoCal Stackers on Thursday, March 29th. This red-letter day marks the inaugural OpenStack LA Meetup.

We’ve got some marquee names presenting at this shindig. From the Rackspace Cloud Builders team, Vish Ishaya and Ron Pedde will be in the house to discuss OpenStack, demo the software stack, and talk about what lies ahead.

Jay Pipes will also be there to educate everyone on the recently released TryStack.org, the free OpenStack sandbox for testing apps. TryStack is ideal for devs who want to quickly test code in a real OpenStack environment, but don’t want to stand up hardware and configure the cloud stack software.

Dinner, soda, and beer will be provided.

Interesting technology and talks! Would have liked to have seen more real-world examples of how it is being and can be used.

Good topics, good eats, easy to find and park at location. My only complaint is that I'd hoped to see a little more diversity. Lots of DreamHosters, which I suppose is to be expected.

To ensure that no one is thirsty, I just placed an order for Firestone DBA and Racer 5 India Pale Ale. We'll also have soda/espresso/tea for our non-beer drinkers.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
