Google+ Hangout: How is IBM using OpenStack?

Details

In this meetup we will talk about how IBM is using OpenStack together with their mainframe virtualization product z/VM. z/VM has been running Linux workloads for more than a decade. Leveraging OpenStack, z/VM can provide greatly enhanced access to existing workloads, as well as create and orchestrate new workloads that OpenStack applications bring to the platform. At the same time, z/VM can bring mainframe values, such as scaling, high availability, disaster recovery and and security to OpenStack applications. With the latest z/VM OpenStack support, OpenStack APIs become an integral part of z/VM, which enables z/VM OpenStack support to be automatically optimized in terms of configuration, security, and performance. We'll talk about the background of z/VM, how it traditionally did workload management, how we updated it to work with OpenStack and where we are hoping to go in the future.

Speaker: Emily Kate Hugenbruch, Software Engineer - z/VM at IBM.

We`re hosting our meetup at 9.00 - 10.00 am Pacific.
