OpenStack Cinder deep dive

Harald Seipp is a Consulting IT Specialist at IBM Germany and founder and technical leader of the EMEA Center of Competence for OpenStack Storage. He previously was lead development architect for tape and disk diagnostic software and co-invented a storage software product that combines tape and disk storage. Prior to joining IBM in 1999, he worked as a software engineer for several companies to build optical disk media changers, storage host bus adapter device drivers and cryptography solutions.

Session abstract for Cinder:

This lecture will cover the technical details of the OpenStack Storage architecture and how IBM storage systems tie into that including a live demo of a real-world OpenStack cluster with IBM storage solutions attached.

The session will focus on the OpenStack Cinder Component that is used to provision persistent storage to VMs within an OpenStack Cluster including lessons learned while operating an OpenStack cluster.

The Live Demo part of the session will show how easy Storage can be provisioned through OpenStack using the IBM XIV Storage system and IBM Cloud Manager with OpenStack.
