  1. Your next career move - modelling!
    Arturo Suarez, Canonical

Abstract: When it comes to scalable infrastructure there is a lot of choice: OpenStack, PAAS, Public Cloud, on premises cloud or bare-metal all without without containers. With so many platforms also come many different ways of deploying managing and scaling complex application architectures which creates a whole new set of problems. In this session we will discuss the role application modeling and containers can play in abstracting complex applications from their deployment platforms and creating commonality and reuse across the vast array of different platforms.

Bio:Arturo works for the Product Strategy team at Canonical, leading Training and BootStack, the managed hosted (or on-prem) cloud service offered by the leading OpenStack OS company.

He has been selling, talking and living OpenStack since its creation in 2010. That very same year, Arturo co-founded StackOps Technologies, an OpenStack native company that made the first OpenStack Distribution available worldwide. Arturo also a regular speaker in OpenStack, Hosting or Cloud events worldwide.

Abstract: Open Stack users will learn about the current status of BIG DATA. I will discuss the most used platforms of big data. Hadoop, Map Reduce, Hive and Accumulo. Openstack developers are working extremely hard on reducing the complexity of deploying these solutions. Many vendor such as Cloudera, Horton Works and Data Bricks have produced automation and dev ops tools to reduce the burden of deploying these tools. Currently there are no tools to reduce this complexity in a virtualized environment. The complexity of networking, resource management and security can make managing these solutions a nitemare in a virtual environment. The introduction of Openstack Sahara project will introduce our memebers to the power of Sahara and how Openstack is working to reduce this complexity. I will demostrate how sahara works, how to deploy it and demo on how simple it can make managing hadoop.
