Processing is a set of tools, including a programming language, designed to facilitate the use of software within the visual arts, and to promote visual representations within technology. Processing is focused on making digital creation simple and fun, with an emphasis on visuals and interactions. This makes it particularly fitted for makers, designers and visual artists.
Whether you plan to create an artistic installation, an original Android App or simply to learn how to code, Processing is one of the best resources available. It is used by tens of thousands of students, artists/designers, researchers, and hobbyists worldwide.
After discovering the Processing environment, we will discover what generative art is and get our hands dirty. While we will have material to guide you as for every OTS workshop, we will try our best to let you free to explore personal direction within this frame. This workshop is not only about learning technical stuff, but also about expressing your creativity through technology and sharing your realizations.
During this workshop, you will learn the basics of programming, how to use Processing and its development environment (IDE) to create visual effects that people can interact with. By the end of the workshop, we hope to make you autonomous with Processing so you can start your own projects.
